hum, editing /boot/cmdline.txt would be the last thing I'd do as what's relevant there is quite dependent on the Raspbian version and Pi model you are using. Talking of which what Pi are you using :D

I suspect you mean the Unicorn pHAT? It could be an issue with the soldering of the header if so. ... does the example run without error? How have you installed the library?
